ARTIST : Steve Leal

Steve Leal was born in 1962 in Venice, California by Mexican immigrant parent’s Jose and Maria Leal,. He was a self taught artist and inspired by his fathers artistic leather work of scroll designs and paisley motifs. At the age of 13 or 14 he became inspired by the illustrations by Patrick Nagel. In 1983, at the age of 21, he got his big start when the famous publishing company Edward Weston published his work worldwide. Leal continued to print numerous limited editions of his works, and held many one-man shows throughout the world. In 1989 and 1990 he produced many illustrations of pop stars used as backdrops for the American Music Awards. He worked on a Mural in a friends home and many others which further diversified his work. Steave leal continues to produce posters and images for the fine art market in addition to the commercial market.
